The Great Plains Tribal Leaders Health Board is governed by eighteen Board of Directors, including 18 Tribal Presidents, Chairpersons, or Delegates, from the Tribal Nations and Trenton entity, within the 4-state Service Area of Iowa, Nebraska, South, and North Dakota. Each Representative of the Great Plains Tribal Leaders Health Board membership represents their constituent’s interests – the tribally enrolled members within their respective communities.
The Board of Directors meets quarterly to set management and oversight policies and select Great Plains Area representatives for the United States Department of Health and Human Service tribal advisory committees for agencies, including the Indian Health Service, Centers for Disease Control, and others. In addition, the Board discusses national issues, sets policy agendas, deliberates over health priorities, and guides the GPTLHB in providing quality care, outreach, and representation.
The GPTLHB serves and advocates for the 18 tribal communities within the Service Area, including more than 220,000 tribal members. It is one of our responsibilities to represent tribal interests on the local and national level, to improve the health of our relatives.
